Unconstitutional California

"If I had my way, sporting guns would be strictly regulated, the rest would be confiscated," -Nancy Pelosi.

According to researchers at Boston University as of 2019, there were at minimum 111-gun control laws in the state of California. California's supreme court has maintained that most of California's restrictive gun laws are constitutional because the state's constitution does not explicitly guarantee private citizens the right to purchase, possess, or carry firearms. Beginning in 1893 with a concealed carry ban, the natural right of self-defense in California is hamstrung. 1917 concealed carry "permits" were allowed, with the caveat of background checks and the subsequent findings being shared with law enforcement. 1923 The Haws Bill had two major provisions in it: one provision required a permit to carry a concealed handgun anywhere in California, and that statute is the direct ancestor of California's current concealed weapon permit law.  The other provision prohibited non-citizens from possessing concealable firearms. The "lesser" provisions include, banning the carry of explosives and stringent felony charges for criminal acts with a concealed weapon and further definitions of what is considered a concealed weapon. Not necessarily realizing what giving an inch to a progressive gun controller meant, the president of the Sacramento Rifle and Revolver Club, R.T. McKissick said about the bill, "It is frankly an effort on the part of those who know something about firearms to forestall the flood of fanatical legislation intended to deprive all citizens of the United States of the right to own and use, for legitimate purposes, firearms capable of being concealed upon the person."
