It’s the end of the first week of the second year of one of the worst presidencies in history. With the midterms rapidly approaching, hopefully things will be looking brighter. One of the things that’s completely out of our control is what’s going to happen with Bruen. As we recall, NYSRPA v. Bruen was heard on November 3, 2021 and we still have probably nearly half a year to wait and hear what the high court is going to order.

Right now, we’re looking at an extreme backlash from the anti-freedom caucus. Jurisdictions all over the country that are left of center, progressive, and or straight up pinko are introducing and in some cases passing laws and ordinances to limit our Second Amendment right. That’s nothing new, right? Well, given it is a midterm year, this tactic may result in certain representatives and leaders ending up losing the baby with the bathwater. The “support” for so-called gun control is at an all-time low. So what’s this all about?

States like New York, New Jersey, California, Maryland, Hawaii, Massachusetts, etc. are bracing for impact on an opinion on Bruen which codifies our right to bear an arm outside of the home for self-defense. In my opinion, constitutional carry is coming to all the states. Instead of recollecting their thoughts, taking the loss gracefully, and I daresay try to approach the Second Amendment community to work with them instead of against them these politicians are doubling down. It may very well cost them in both the election(s) as well as financially through litigation. I do believe the antics that get played out this year will affect the makeup of both the next congress and next president. From my vantage point, it’s going to be what happened to Clinton passing the Crime Bill on steroids (we don’t even have to discuss the COVID drama and what that’s going to do).
